The Power of God 1

"Then God said, 'Let there be light;' and there was light."  Genesis 1:3

Read Genesis Chapters 1 & 2.

This may not be the first time you've read or heard this scripture and it could be real easy to just gloss over it, but let's stop and think about this. Imagine a world without light. No sun, no stars, no moon, no street lamps, no flashlights.....nothing, absolute black. You wouldn't be able to see anything. There would be no color, no depth, no form that you could see.

Then God say's, "Let there be light."......and there was light! That's power! To be able to speak something into existence, from nothing came something. As you read through Genesis 1 & 2 God just keeps adding to His Creation, keeps speaking everything into existence, not only that but there is an order and progression to His creation.

About 10 years ago my son wanted a puppy as a pet. So one day I sat down with him and read through God's creation with him to help him understand the responsibility of taking care of an animal. The puppy would need a place to sleep, a garden to play and run around in, food and water to drink, someone to clean up after it and someone to love and take care of it. These and more were all good things to think about so that the puppy could grow up into a healthy mature dog.

What if God decided to create man & woman before He created light, or before He created the earth and all the vegetation, they would be floating around in space hungry. But God didn't. He created everything in perfect order and then, and only then did God create man & woman after He had created the perfect environment for them to live in.

The God who spoke light into existence spoke the sun, the moon , the stars, the Mediterranean and Caribbean into existence. Spoke Mount Everest, Niagara Falls, The Redwood Forest, Giants Causeway, elephants, lions, gazelles, blue whales, eagles and dolphins into existence. And to cap it all off, He spoke you and I into existence. That's power! That's the Power of God!
